About THE PROJECT

This project is about creating lasting change by ensuring migrant workers have access to fair treatment, legal protections, and inclusive workplace practices. By addressing inequities and building support networks, we’re working towards a future where every worker can feel valued and secure.

Why this matters

Work is about more than earning a living – it provides purpose, connection, confidence, and a sense of belonging. Migrants and refugees bring valuable skills, experiences, and perspectives that strengthen workplaces and communities across Wales.

However, navigating a new labour market can sometimes be challenging. Barriers such as unfamiliarity with employment rights, language differences, and limited access to information can make it harder for people to recognise unfair treatment or seek support when they need it.

We believe everyone deserves to work in an environment where they are treated fairly, valued, and able to thrive. By empowering individuals, supporting employers, and listening to lived experiences, we can help create more inclusive workplaces and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to work with dignity and confidence.

OUR IMPACT

Since launching the Ending Workplace Exploitation Project, we have:

  • Supported 30+ people experiencing active or historic workplace challenges.

  • Provided monthly one-to-one support and rights-based workshops, reaching 126 participants over the year.

  • Helped 15 individuals share their lived experiences to inform change.

  • Reached 3,000+ people through our social media awareness campaign on employment rights.

  • Delivered Equality, Diversity and Inclusion training to 61 professionals.

  • Saw 90% of participating employers express an interest in improving their inclusion policies and practices.

  • Began developing the Migrant Positive Pledge, bringing together employers and communities to create fairer and more inclusive workplaces.

Alongside this, we have started gathering case evidence and mapping policy issues to influence long-term change and improve protections for migrant workers across Wales.

Here some quotes from the last cohort of our advisory panel:

"Societal change never happens overnight. I want to help start the journey and pave the way for those who come after us."
CB, Advisory Panel Member

"Change starts from the ground up, and this panel is a meaningful way to contribute to that process."
DK, Advisory Panel Member
